Its a long drive to get there, but worth it. Try to stay for more than one night. There are more tours than you can do in one day and some very nice walking tracks where you're likely to see native animals. The tours I went on were all different to each other, its hard to pick the best.

Just wanted to say thankyou for such a great weekend at the Undara Country Rock and Blues Festival. What a gig!!
It is the sort of gig musicians dream of! The whole Undara team were incredibly welcoming and showed us what real outback hospitality is all about. The atmosphere buzzing around the festival goers was only further enhanced by the stunning venue. Great acoustics, made it a real pleasure to perform, not to mention the playing with the majestic backdrop of Undara Outback behind us.
Beautiful weekend of music away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

"Without knowing anything about the Undara Country Rock and Blues Festival
before I went up I had some worries about being stuck out in the middle of
no-where and being bored. But what a surprise the whole weekend turned out
to be! I was so impressed by the surroundings, the awe-inspiring Lava Tubes
and the royal treatment I received from the organisers and all the staff.
Thanks again for one of the greatest weekends I've ever had, and for making
me feel so warm and welcome. I was truly blown away by just how special the
place and everyone there really was"

We looked at wildlife, the tourists and the fauna. Birds, kookaburras of all shapes and ages totally at home with humans, kangaroos - eastern greys, wallaroos grey and white faced, much to Greg's joy we spotted two brolgas cavorting in the hundred mile swamp - his first siting in that area, one rabbit, one tawny frog mouth owl, and a quarter of a million minature bats who live in one of the underground caves formed by the longest lava tube of all. The night we were there the pythons who usually hang from vines at the mouth of the cave to catch bats were all asleep but it was still a very scary experience in that black hole. We slept in railway carriages trucked to the site in order to have minimum impact on the environment, very de ja vu for me - my sister and I used to travel from Canberra to Sydney when we were children in a steam train with carriages exactly like the ones at Undara - the old luggage racks and tin basins still intact. We climbed a couple of granite and basalt bluffs to gaze at the sunset and sunrise and ate very well as guests. On the long way home we walked to the Millstream falls, supposedly the widest in Australia and another beautiful location created by a volcano, and lunched in Atherton. What a great day. Thanks to the Collins family who discovered the tubes and who have lived on the land for five generations.

My visit to Queensland was really wonderful and especially I really loved my outback experience at Undara! For me it was one of the most impressing experiences in Queensland!!!

Everything was wonderful and perfect: the scenery, the accommodation, the lava tubes, the sunset tour, the food, the kookaburra in the morning, the bush breakfast, the ginger beer, ... Levi and all the kind people!!

It was a pleasure for me to meet you and to be at Undara, would be nice to see you again.

I had a FABULOUS time at Undara, one of the best holidays I've had in years.
Ultra-friendly staff, comfortable accommodation, superb meals and tranquil peace and quiet under the outback stars, what more could you ask for?

It was my first visit but definitely won't be my last. The notion that word of mouth is the best advertising couldn't be truer... I haven't stopped raving about Undara!

Caroline was excellent and friendly as was Trent.
Sunset Tour is amazing, half day was good info but I would have liked to get my feet dirty (off the board walk).
I love the serenity of the place and your eco-friendly approach.

My family and I went on the full day tour of the lava tubes & volcanic crater. The tour guide's professionalism & knowledge is a credit to himself & your company to the point I am of the opinion that it was the best tour I have been on in Queensland.

We are now back in Cairns after staying at Undara.

Please forward a huge thanks to everyone working there during our visit, from the arrival at reception, the housekeeping and the gardeners (for maintaining a high standard), the cooks and all waitressing staff, and the tour guides. The tour guides are all great characters, good drivers , full of information and humour. Everyone combines to make the guests feel welcome, with attention to detail and safety. The teamwork and cooperation amoungst the staff is evident. A special mention to Amanda who was always happy and nothing was too much effort.

You cater for all groups and budgets. The layout , walks, tours and the facilities are well planned. The railway theme has been done tastefully and adds to the outback, historic feeling of the place. The safety and well being of guests is also evident. Undara creates an area to experience a relaxed and peaceful bush stay, combined with the great facilities, food and informative tours make a perfect destination in the outback. The evening activities and breakfast enhance the aussie outback feel.

Congratulations to the Collins family for the forsight and determination to create a place such as Undara. Congrats to the lady that has been there for 17 years and now moving to run Innot Hot Springs Van Park, good luck. Best wishes for the future success of Undara and thanks again, it was much appreciated.

We stayed with you on June 11th til June 13th and did the day tour on June 12th (Lost World Tour with Steven as our guide) and we would like to say thank you for a great day and a great stay. What a place to visit. We will tell everyone about Undara and the experience we had there. Steven was a great guide, the 7 of us (4 adults and 3 boys from 7 til 12 in age) all enjoyed the day emensely. He's great with kids and has great knowlegde about the place.

Excellent presentation and varied complex for all tourists to enjoy a very different attraction with natural bush, within appropriate budget accommodation.

You guys really made things run very smoothly for me which is hugely appreciated. Thanks again for everything and for all of your support with the organisation in the lead up to the rally and during our stay – the work you and your team put in makes all the difference.

Our stay at Undara was the most memorable part of a 10 day self drive tour of Central & North QLD.
We were impressed with the price & high quality of food preparation & staff in the restaurant.
Dining in the railway cars brought back childhood memories for my wife, & created an experience my 6 year old daughter will always cherish.

Well, I absolutely enjoyed it! Beautiful country ( and isn't the drive great from Cairns, gotta love these roads!!!).
The tours we did( lava tube and Wildlife at sunset) were fantastic. Mainly due to the tour guide, Levi , doing a bloody good job! Thanks heaps!!!!

My personal opinion: too civilised for my taste, as I love the outback. But definitely awesome for travellers from overseas, who don't have the guts to go in the outback by themselves.

It is very beautiful country and I think you guys absolutely rock, what you made and make out of it.

As I always wanted to go there, I am happy to say to people now that ask me about it, that it's really worth it!

I just wanted to let you know just how much my family enjoyed Undara.
We were up there earlier this year and thought it was fantastic. When we got home we were already planning our next trip up there. You will see us again sometime in the near future.
And I wanted to say that your staff are so helpful; my son burnt his fingers while we were camping and they were very kind and helpful. Thank you very much!

Overall we had a great time - but the guides made the place. I hope you pay your staff well as they are all knowledgeable, friendly and full of personality!

I love the website, its fantastic – easy to read and very easy to navigate!! A lot of information that gives people lots of interesting and valuable background knowledge on Undara!!

I thought I would drop you a line to give you both some feedback on the two wonderful weekends we have recently spent out in Undara.

The other person who needs a big mention and a very big Thank you is Levi. On our first visit Levi took the 2 hour Lava Tube tour and we were very impressed that he was able to appeal to 4 year olds and 84 year olds and everyone in between.

He has a great personality and was able to make what could have been quite a heavy going tour for a 4 year old into a really exciting experience. Later on that day it was Levi who was leading the camp fire sing song and he created a great atmosphere for all the kids and adults.

A resort is only as good as it's staff, and I really have to tell you that you have the most amazing group of young people working for you.

I will certainly be recommending Undara to as many people as I can for you, and I thank you all for 2 very memorable weekends.

Recently, my wife and I spent 2 nights at Undara, 23rd & 24th May. We enjoyed the bush walks, the relaxed time and the lava tube tour. However, the most pleasing part of our stay was your staff, in particular, Clare,Sarah and Brian. Clare goes out of her way to make you feel welcome,Sarah (the mad one) makes you part of the family. Upon finding out that my wife was Coeliac the girls enlisted the help of Brian from the kitch to come up with a dessert she could eat. Brian rushed out from the kitchen to find out what Robin could and couldn't eat, then promised a dessert to die for. That evening he lived up to his word. In the grand scheme of things what they did for Robin may not seem like much, but it was appreciated and will be remembered, and we will always talk about Undara in a favourable way.
