From Townsville via Ingham and Mt. Fox

The drive from Townsville to Undara via Mt Fox is approximately 389km and takes about 6 hours. Travel north from Townsville to Ingham on the Bruce Hwy approximately 109km.

Ingham: At Ingham turn off the Bruce Hwy and travel approximately 8km inland to Trebonne.

Wallaman Falls: We recommend taking a detour from Trebonne to visit the spectacular Wallaman Falls, at 305 metres, it is the highest single drop waterfall in Australia. The Falls, which feature a large pool, are 40km from Trebonne, and 51km west of Ingham, of which 30km of which is unsealed road.

Mt Fox: On returning to Trebonne from Wallaman Falls, take the left hand fork for 19km to Upper Stone. From Upper Stone continue on to Mt Fox approximately 29km. Continue on approximately 104km from Mt Fox to Valley of Lagoons.

Valley Of The Lagoons: These lakes which were formed when lava from recent flows dammed the Burdekin River, are on private property, so obtain permission from the landowners to visit the lakes.

From Valley of Lagoons, continue on until you meet the Kennedy Highway – approximately 56km. Turn right and from here travel approximately 32km to the junction of the Kennedy Highway and the Gulf Development Rd. The Undara Lava Lodge is 33km from here.

Turn right and from here travel approxiamtely 32 km to the junction of the Kennedy Highway and Gulf Development Rd. It is 33km to the Undara Lava Lodge from here.

Turn left onto the Gulf Development Rd and head towards Mount Surprise. 18km along this road, is the sign-posted turn-off to Undara. Turn left onto a fully sealed road and travel for 14kms until you arrive at Undara Experience.
