Itinerary

Day One: Departing Cairns, travel by coach through the beautiful Cairns Highlands, then into Tropical North Queensland’s Outback region, known as the Gulf Savannah. On arrival at Undara Experience, have lunch and relax by the pool or enjoy a bush walk before joining your Savannah Guide for a magnificent Wildlife at Sunset tour, followed by an evening campfire activity. Overnight in our restored railway carriage accommodation. Lunch and dinner included.

Day Two: Awaken your tastebuds with Bush Breakfast at the Ringers Camp to the accompaniment of the morning bird chorus. Join your Savannah Guide for a Half Day Lava Tube tour, where they will share their extensive knowledge of this fascinating area. After lunch depart Undara Experience for your return journey to Cairns. Breakfast and lunch included.

Return Coach from Cairns (1UNC): Relax with our commentary as you journey to and from Undara by luxury coach. Tour Includes: 1 night’s carriage accommodation, all National Park fees, Half Day Lava Tube tour, Wildlife at Sunset tour, evening campfire activity, meals as indicated (2 Lunch, 1 Dinner, 1 Breakfast) together with return coach travel.

2 Day Outback Experience With Rail

Savannahlander. The popular ‘Savannahlander’ train travels the original 90 year old rail line that serviced the pioneering mining towns of Forsayth, Einasleigh and Mt Surprise.

Later on the Wildlife At Sunset Tour enjoy champagne as you watch the sun drop below the rugged Newcastle Range and marvel at the variety of wildlife including literally thousands of micro bats leaving the Lava Tubes to feed for the night. After dinner enjoy an evening of campfire activities. Overnight carriage accommodation. Lunch and dinner included.

Day Two: Awaken your tastebuds with a bush breakfast at the Ringers Camp to the accompaniment of the morning bird chorus. Then depart for Mount Surprise for your Savannahlander Train safari back to Cairns.

Experience the Reef, Rainforest and Outback. See it all in one day.

Departing Cairns approximately 7.00am, your scenic flight takes in the islands and cays of the Great Barrier Reef and the magnificent rainforests near the Tully Gorge and Koombaloomba Dam. From there you’ll fly out into the vast expanse of the Outback called the Gulf Savannah. You will fly over the Undara volcanic crater and the Lava Tubes before touching down at the private airfield of Undara Experience.

Join your Savannah Guide for a fascinating Half Day Lava Tube tour. They will share their extensive knowledge of the Lava Tubes as well as the history of early settlement and the diverse flora and fauna of this region. Enjoy a Buffet Lunch at the Lodge before your return plane departure back to Cairns.
