“Travel Oz” films at Undara

Travel Oz’s “The Two Tims” visited Undara recently to report on what the Gulf Savannah has to offer. Guest presenters on the ABC’s travel program Tim Doyle and Tim Charody headed out to film the lava tubes and activities at the lodge. Keep your eye out for the episode later on in the year. Last Friday Undara guests were treated to a special night around the campfire as Dave Delaney, Poet Laureate for the ABC Far North radio, joined the team at the lodge for the nightly activities. A mixture of his own creations and a few favourites ensured that there was standing room only for this special event. Dave would like to thank all the team and audience for such a great night.

Last weekend Undara hosted two of the 16 finalists in Tourism Queensland’s award winning campaign “The Best Job in the World”. Greg Reynen, an American based in Singapore, and James Hill, an Aussie with strong links in the UK, flew out via Cobbold Gorge to enjoy the lava tubes and Wildlife at Sunset tour before staying over night. The next day they headed off to Daydream Island on an 8 day tour through the region. They both expressed amazement and delight at being able to access the ‘Outback’ so easily from the reef and rainforests. Keep your eye out for further publicity from their stay in the Gulf Country.

Wondering what to do with the kids these holidays? Undara would like to offer all children 14 years and under the chance to come out to the famous lava tubes and not pay for any touring or accommodation this July. While mum and dad get to save some money the kids will be amazed by the wildlife and scale of the oldest lava tubes in the world. Just don’t tell the kids that they might learn something!
