Opera in the Outback 2010

We are proud to announce that Opera in the Outback is the winner of the Tropical North Queensland Tourism Award for Festivals and Events 2009 and now 2010!

Thursday 7th October 5.45 pm

The Towers Players from Charters Towers will perform 2 One Act Plays. ‘The Shed’ by Dale Furse and Stella McMahon and ‘Remains to be Seen’ by Ian Austin.

N.B. Opera guests attending both Friday and Saturday night performances receive 50 % discount on Thursday’s ticket.

 

Friday 8th October 5.45 pm

Peter Axford our very first Opera Artist at Undara returns accompanied by lyrical soprano Julia Brant and pianist Jo-Anne Kemp. They will perform a mixed repertoire appealing to all tastes.

The Opera Bites Company will engage us in the second half of the evening with their beautiful condensed version of the Opera Madame Butterfly.

 

Saturday 9th October 5.45 pm

The Opera Bites Company performs a 90 minute version of Johann Strauss’ comic delight, Die Fledermaus (The Bat). Join the festivities of the evening by dressing for a masked Dinner!

 

Sunday 10th October 9.45 – 10.40 am

“10- A Celebration” Come and join us to celebrate the number 10, at 10 past 10  on the 10th of the 10th 2 thousand and ten, the perfect time to celebrate 10 years of Opera in the Outback at Undara Experience! Opera Bites will for one final time impress and delight at the Ooramin Place Amphitheatre.

Artist in Residence –Scott Wilmot Bennett

Undara Experience’s first Artist in Residence, Scott Wilmot Bennett, has been visiting Undara regularly since March this year exploring and gathering inspiration that has been transposed into vibrant works that will be displayed during the Opera in the Outback weekend throughout the Undara
Central area of the resort. Most of these works will also be available for sale.

Scott will also be onsite over the Opera in the Outback weekend offering FREE ‘Inspiration Walks” on Friday 8th & Saturday 9th October at 10.00-11.30 am each day.

On Saturday afternoon Scott will be conducting a guided insight into his exhibition and works, the perfect opportunity to discuss with Scott all things artistic!
