“Jayson Watkin, a rootsy acoustic artist, performs robust, well written original songs that carve a landscape for the audience to get lost in. Great stories played on top of a solid groove make for a spanking musical experience that sits neatly in the pocket”
Born and bred in North Queensland and raised on the land, Jayson has developed a raw and natural talent for writing songs from the heart, which people can truly relate to.
Love of Country Music has always been apart of David Hudson’s life since he was a young boy. From his upbringing south west of Cairns in his early years at Spring Creek and Rosella Plains Stations were Undara is situated, to his later successful career, travelling the world, he still listens and plays the great tunes of country music. Undara is also the traditional lands of his father and has named one of his albums , Undara Dawn after this location.
David is renowned for his success with the didgeridoo and has brought him great renown from all over the world as a highly respected ambassador for his culture and country. Many do not realise that he is a competent musician with the ability to play numerous other instruments, but namely the guitar.
He has some 28 albums to his name, however the latest album took a different path and he was finally able to record a country album which he had been longing to do. This comprises of mostly new compositions and a wonderful version of Solid Rock with Shane Howard, a long time friend.
His accomplishments also include the long established Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, which he was originally co-owner, co-producer and choreographer.Returning to the Park after pursuing his own career away from the Tjapukai , he has since returned as the General Manager.
For David returning to Undara to perform at the Country Rock and Blues is like a boomerang returning home.
Kel Cork has been penning his songs of love gained , love lost, and the ironies of life’s journey for as long as he can remember. Recording of the self-titled debut album began in 2003, it was released in 2005, and was well received by local community radio stations.
Back in the studio in 2006, the guys spent the next few years recording more of their original songs at various studios, including Kevin Borich’s ‘Vibrating House’, Allan Pease ‘Heliport Studios’, and the Byron Bay 301 SAE facility. The album ‘One more Shot’ was consequently released in June 2010. Daryl Kirkup of Capital News had this to say about the album… “13 beautifully written songs by lead vocalist KELLY CORK backed up by fine production combine to make One More Shot one of the stand out releases of the year so far. …The Rain always deliver fine live performances and with this album, they deliver a release that deserves the right to be in every country music fan’s collection.” (see REVIEWS page)
