Current positions available:

Chef or Cook: Join Undara’s award winning team and showcase your talent as a Food and Beverage professional. Previous experience in buffet and a la carte cookery preferred.

Savannah Guide: An exciting opportunity exists to join the ‘Protector’s and Interpreters of the Outback’. Savannah Guides are employed and trained by Undara Experience, and become members of Savannah Guides Ltd with the opportunity to get further training at Guide Schools held throughout the year. Guides run bus tours to the lava tubes and provide interpretation to guests. Hidden talents such as singing, instrument playing, nature talks and star gazing, can be flaunted around the nightly campfire. Prerequisites: MR Driver Licence, QLD Driver Authority and Senior First Aid.

All positions at Undara are ‘live on’ with food and accommodation provided at an affordable cost.

Rosters are 10 days on, 4 days off.

Marketing Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager

Staff Reports: Sales and Marketing Coordinator

Goal: Increase visitation, revenue and yield for Undara Experience

Objective: Responsible for planning and implementing all sales and marketing activity to achieve sales and revenue targets.

Specifically:

  • Manage the marketing strategy, budget and its implementation
  • Manage and implement the advertising and promotional activities approved in the marketing plan
  • Oversee the development and running of Opera in the Outback, Outback Country Rock and Blues and other events as required including b/e; marketing budget; managing event expenditure; implementing event advertising and publicity; contracting artists, production contractors, etc; and managing the event production itself.
  • Write advertising copy, editorial, brochures, flyers, web copy and any other written materials required
  • Manage the design, production and printing of the Undara Experience brochure
  • Manage the content and active and ongoing campaign on our website & other online strategies.
  • Write tourism award entries, funding submissions, proposals, business strategy cases, annual marketing report and other reports/letters/communications as required
  • Manage the famil program and follow up including hosting as required
  • Manage the annual rates approval process and subsequent rate sheet production and distribution
  • Image Library database management
  • Attend ATE, trade shows and industry functions as required
  • 60 days per year on the * Boundary Run (3x 20 days pa)
  • 60 days per year on the road Cairns, Tablelands & Port Douglas/ Daintree (1 day/wk av)
  • Brochure run admin, database maintenance and action/follow up
  • Negotiate, install and maintain promotional displays in strategic locations including road signage
  • Other specific projects as required by Executive Management team

Skills:

Team orientated & results driven

5 years experience in a sales management role

Understand the tourism industry including distributions systems, commission structures, famil procedures, co-operative marketing, etc

Experience in domestic, drive and consumer marketing.

Good industry networks – tourism, C&I, events (regional communities an advantage)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including copy writing and proof reading

Good computer skills including all MS XP Pro and Office applications

Energetic and enthusiastic

Prepared to travel by vehicle to Undara site regularly, Qld country for minimum three weeks, 3 times per year, interstate as required

Fit and healthy

Manual driver’s license (driver’s authorisation & LR/HR licence an advantage)
